I still can't believe you lot in the USA have gone for yet another incompatible-with-the-rest-of-the-world frequency for your 3G network meaning that anyone coming to the USA won't be able to use your 3G network and your 3G iPhones will be about as useful as a one legged dog outside the USA.

It's interesting that the T-Mobile guy thinks that the prime use for 3G in the USA will be email and other user generated content and not music though. Personally the last thing I want is content rich email on my mobile phone.
Its most likely because most people here still just use their cellphone as a phone and nothing more. My phone is internet capable but I sure am not paying their ridiculous prices just to check the weather or my email when I'm away from a broadband connection. And why would I pay to download ringtones when I can make my own higher quality ones? I mean, that's just stupid.

But I agree, US companies are just so "US only" in their thinking. It really just limits them.

I still wow about my cube even though I sold it over a month ago. wow it was a cool computer.

My new ibook is great as well, and technically more useful than the cube, but it doesn't really have the wow that the cube had.

Ipad 2? The switch on the side- go to settings and change it from orientation lock to mute...

iPad 1 - just use the mute switch?

This not a hardware issue. It works the same on both models of iPad. It is a feature of iOS, if you have a current version.

    - I added "# 74.208.105.171 gs.apple.com" to my hosts file.

Even if you did have the SHSH blobs stored on Saurik's server, the line you added to your hosts file is not going to do you any good as long as that '#' character is at the front. Remove that. It's a comment character...it makes the DNS resolver IGNORE THAT LINE. With # in front of it, it's as if that line wasn't even there.

Whatever site you copied that from that contains the # in front of it is in error.

The original Airport cards can do WPA, but only on 10.3.9 and above. If you're having trouble connecting, try turning off the router's N mode if it has it. I've found turning it off helps it connect.

Glad to hear it. This is probably how all laptops will be in a few years (i.e. SSD, no internal optical drive, ultra thin/light etc).
I'm just glad I don't have to heft around my crummy Fujitsu Lifebook from work any more - I just use my iPad 2 :)

from John Gruber at Daringfireball.net (http://www.daringfireball.net)

iPod Mobile Phone Even just a few days ago, I did not expect to see Apple announce a phone this week. But over the weekend I flip-flopped, and I now think its more likely than not. Not a VOIP phone that depends on Wi-Fi or anything like that, but an honest-to-god mobile phone. It seems like there has to be some sort of Wow, I thought maybe Apple would announce a phone but I didnt think theyd do it like this! factor, but damned if anyone knows what it is. My wild unlikely-but-wouldnt-it-be-cool-as-**** guess: that its not an iPod phone, but rather introduces a new mobile device OS

i have to agree that would be even cooler than a new phone; a new mobile platform entirely. unlikely, but cool.

Based on the above drawings, this would be a disaster.

The interface is now clunky, crowded and unintuitive.
Biggest problem- take a look-it will require two hands to operate, thereby negating what every one else has been trying to imitate-the ease of use of the iPod scroll wheel.

If your willing to spend a little extra, I'd check out the HP ZR22. It's a little bit smaller but you get what you pay for. IPS, Full HD, All the ports you need.

I do not disagree with you. I should have said for "my real work". Obviously there are activities that require mobile computing and can be handled by a phone, tablet, netbook etc. just fine.

Sorry - it wasn't aimed at you in particular. Rather, at the hordes of people who seem to think small notebooks and tablets - Apple ones in particular :) - are only for consumption. A later poster put it perfectly: the market has evolved, not the computers. In practical terms, as a business traveller, this suggests to me that I'll see fewer and fewer guys in suits schlepping gigantic Dell laptops with power bricks the size of small houses, and using them solely for Word and Outlook.

$40 sounds about right for labor. The little mini can be a pain to work on. Alternatively, you could try replacing it yourself. Chances are, the bluetooth works fine, and is just disconnected.

I just now took it apart and saw that it was disconnected. I attached it, but the BT still doesn't work. I probably didn't attach it to the right connection, or something else is amiss. I'm kind of tired of messing with it, and would rather a pro work on it at this point.

There's a lot more to it than just x megapixels = y size print. However, as a really basic guidline you can look at this chart (http://forums.adoramapix.com/entries/228318-resolution-and-image-quality). In addition to straight dpi/ppi your choice of paper and the printer used will make a world of difference and change the effective resolution.

Another issue is going to be viewing conditions. If you print A0 and plan on holding the print in front of your face in bright lighting you are going to see pixels. On the other hand the same size hung on a wall and viewed from a few feet away will look much better. Then on top of that the type of glass used in the frame can make a difference in the look of the print.

Other considerations would be, did you crop the print? How sharp is the lens you used and how well focused is the picture? What did you do in post processing?

That being said, I've sold 20x30 prints based off of a 10MP images. You won't find those prints in a gallery but they still looked pretty good. With a few tests and a little effort you should be able to make good prints off of an 18MP file.

Hope I didn't ramble too much and you got some useful information out of that. :)
